Director : Jean-Benoît Zimmermann, Research Director at CNRS ; Administration : Isabelle Mauduech.

Members of GREQAM specialize in all areas of economics, with strong concentrations in macroeconomics, econometrics, game theory, economic philosophy and public economics. A special Institute in Public Economics (IDEP) has been established at GREQAM and acts as an independent body to foster relations between local governements and political authorities and researchers in public economics. GREQAM counts two Fellows of the Econometric Society among its members, and is consistently ranked as one of the five top research centers in economics in France.

GREQAM hosts an active seminar series in Economic Analysis, Econometrics, Public Economics, Political Economy, Economic Philosophy and Experimental Economics. Numerous conferences are also organized each year at GREQAM, including the yearly “Louis André Gérard Varet” conference in public economics and this year the Second World Congress of the Game Theory Society.

GREQAM organizes five programs of doctoral studies, in Economic Theory, Econometrics, Public Economics, Economic Philosophy and International Macroeconomics. Some of these programs (notably Economic Theory, Econometrics and Public Economics) are offered both in French and English. GREQAM participates in different international networks. It is one of the founding members of the EDGE doctoral program together with the Universities of Cambridge, Copenhagen, and Munich… GREQAM also forms, together with CORE in Belgium and the Universities of Barcelona in Spain a “Laboratoire Européen Associé” in Quantitative Economics and Choice Theory.

GREQAM (Groupement de Recherche en Economie Quantitative d’Aix Marseille) is a research center depending on four different institutions: CNRS (the French National Center for Scientific Research), the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, and the Universities of Aix-Marseille II (Université de la Méditerranée) and Aix-Marseille III (Université Paul Cézanne). The legal status of GREQAM is an Unité Mixte de Recherche (UMR 6579) of the CNRS.

GREQAM was established in 1994 by the merger of different research units (GREQE in Marseille and CRIDESOPE and LEQAM in Aix-en-Provence ). It comprises more than 50 permanent members who teach or do research in any of the four founding institutions. The support staff of GREQAM consists of 12 people. GREQAM is organized into six different research departments:
